What is Countdown & Regional Clock?
Countdown & Regional Clock is a Jira dashboard app that helps teams keep important deadlines visible and coordinate work across different locations and time zones.
It lets you display the time remaining until an upcoming event and add digital clocks showing the current time and date in selected regions.
Which gadgets are included in the app?
The app includes two configurable Jira dashboard gadgets:
-
Countdown Gadget: Displays the time remaining until a specified date and time.
-
Regional Clock Gadget: Displays the current local time and, optionally, the current date in a selected city, region, or time zone.
Who is the app designed for?
The app is useful for:
-
Distributed and remote teams
-
Project and Program Managers
-
Product Owners and Product Managers
-
Release and Delivery Managers
-
Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches
-
DevOps and operations teams
-
Jira Service Management and support teams
-

Is a free trial available?
Yes. You can start a free 30-day trial from the app’s listing on the Atlassian Marketplace.
Do I need Jira administrator permissions to use the gadgets?
A Jira administrator is generally required to install the app.
After installation, users with permission to create or edit Jira dashboards can add and configure the gadgets.
Because the gadgets do not retrieve Jira work-item data, no project, board, sprint, or saved-filter permissions are required for their time-related information.
Do I need to know JQL?
No. Neither gadget requires JQL.
The gadgets are configured using dates, times, labels, regions, and time zones rather than Jira work-item data.
Do the gadgets require a Jira project, board, or filter?
No. You do not need to select a Jira project, agile board, sprint, saved filter, or JQL query.
The Countdown Gadget uses a manually configured target date and time. The Regional Clock Gadget uses a selected region and time zone.
How do I set the countdown target?
Specify the date and time of the upcoming event in the gadget configuration.
The gadget then calculates and displays the time remaining until that target.
Can I customize how the countdown is displayed?
Yes. You can configure:
-
The gadget title
-
The target date and time
-
Text displayed above the remaining time
-
Text displayed below the remaining time
-
The format used to display the remaining time
-
Whether Saturdays and Sundays should be excluded
Use the labels to explain what the countdown represents and why the date matters.
Can I exclude weekends from the countdown?
Yes. Enable Don’t count weekends if you do not want Saturdays and Sundays included in the remaining time.
This can provide a more useful view of the effective weekdays remaining until a milestone or deadline.
Does the weekend option also exclude public holidays?
No. The option excludes Saturdays and Sundays only.
It does not automatically account for public holidays, company holidays, individual leave, or custom working calendars.
Can the Countdown Gadget count only working hours?
The gadget can exclude weekends, but it does not calculate time according to daily working hours, shift schedules, holidays, or team calendars.
It should therefore be used as a deadline-awareness tool rather than as a business-calendar or SLA calculator.
Can the countdown use a Jira due date, sprint end date, or release date automatically?
The countdown target is configured manually.
It does not automatically read or follow the due date of a Jira work item, the end date of a sprint, or the release date of a Jira version. If that date changes in Jira, update the Countdown Gadget accordingly.
Can I create multiple countdowns?
Yes. Add a separate Countdown Gadget for each event you want to display.
Does the Countdown Gadget send notifications or reminders?
No. The gadget provides a visual countdown on a Jira dashboard.
It does not send email, chat, or in-product notifications when the event is approaching. Use Jira automation, calendar reminders, or another notification system when active alerts are required.
Does the Countdown Gadget show project progress?
No. It shows how much time remains until the configured target date, not how much project work has been completed.
Use it together with a burndown, burnup, release, velocity, or other project-reporting gadget when you need to compare the remaining time with actual progress.
What does the Regional Clock Gadget display?
The Regional Clock Gadget displays the current time in a selected location using a digital-clock format.
You can also configure it to show the current date.
How do I select the location for a Regional Clock?
Select the required region and then choose the relevant city or time zone from the available options.
The clock displays the current local time for that selected location, regardless of where the dashboard viewer is located.
Can I display the local date as well as the time?
Yes. Enable the Show Date option to display the current date together with the regional time.
This is particularly useful when working with locations where it may already be the previous or following calendar day.
Can I customize the clock’s location label?
Yes. Use the top-line setting to display a meaningful location, office, team, or customer name.
Can I display more than one time zone?
Yes. Each Regional Clock Gadget displays one selected location.
Add multiple instances of the gadget to display several offices, teams, customers, or time zones on the same dashboard.
Can one clock display several cities?
No. One Regional Clock Gadget represents one selected city or time zone.
To create a multi-region overview, add a separate gadget for each location.
Can I display the gadgets in Confluence?
Yes. The gadgets can also be embedded in Confluence pages, allowing deadlines and regional times to be shared with stakeholders who primarily work in Confluence.
Are these gadgets also available in Great Gadgets?
Yes. The Countdown and Regional Clock gadgets are also included in Great Gadgets for Jira, StonikByte’s complete Jira dashboard reporting suite.
Which app should I choose?
Choose Countdown & Regional Clock when you need a focused solution for displaying upcoming deadlines and current times across multiple locations.
Choose Great Gadgets for Jira when you also need burndown and burnup charts, release forecasts, velocity and throughput reports, cumulative flow diagrams, WIP charts, cycle time and lead time reports, time-in-status reports, pivot tables and charts, custom KPIs, work breakdown structures, worklog reports, team wallboards, and other dashboard capabilities in one app.
Do I need the standalone app if I already have Great Gadgets?
No. If Great Gadgets is already installed and licensed, you can use the Countdown and Regional Clock gadgets included in that app.
Is Great Gadgets licensed separately?
Yes. Countdown & Regional Clock and Great Gadgets for Jira are separate Atlassian Marketplace apps, each with its own installation and license.
