What is Team Wallboard?
Team Wallboard is a Jira dashboard app that displays the current work of a Scrum, Kanban, SAFe®, ITSM, or other Jira team in a visual board-style layout.
It helps teams see what is To Do, In Progress, or Done, who is responsible for each item, its priority and estimate, and how work is distributed across epics, subtasks, assignees, or other swimlane criteria.

The gadget can display work from a Scrum board, Kanban board, saved filter, or JQL query directly on a Jira dashboard.

Do I need Jira administrator permissions to use the gadget?
A Jira administrator is generally required to install the app.
After installation, users with permission to create or edit Jira dashboards can add and configure the gadget. Users must also have permission to access the selected board, filter, projects, and work items.
Which data sources can I use?
You can configure the wallboard using:

Do I need to know JQL?
No. You can select an existing Scrum or Kanban board or use a saved Jira filter.
JQL is available when you need precise control over the displayed work or want to create a wallboard that combines work items from multiple projects or teams.
Does Team Wallboard support Scrum and Kanban?
Yes. The gadget supports both Scrum and Kanban boards.
It can be used with boards from team-managed and company-managed Jira spaces.
Can I use custom Jira workflow statuses?
Yes.
When an agile board is used, work items are displayed according to the board-column mapping.
When a saved filter or JQL query is used, the work items are grouped according to the Jira status category assigned to each status: To Do, In Progress, or Done.
Can I track work across multiple projects or teams?
Yes. Use a saved filter or JQL query that returns work items from all the projects or teams that you want to display.
Can I create several wallboards on the same dashboard?
Yes. Add multiple instances of the Team Wallboard gadget and configure each one with a different board, filter, JQL query, quick filter, or swimlane setting.
Can I display the active sprint?
Yes. When a Scrum board is selected, configure the gadget to display its active sprint.
The wallboard shows the current work items included in that sprint.
Can I apply Jira board quick filters?
Yes. You can apply one or more quick filters configured on the selected agile board.
What are swimlanes?
Swimlanes are horizontal sections that divide the wallboard into categories.
They make it easier to distinguish groups of work while preserving the workflow columns.
Can I choose which estimate is displayed?
Yes. Select the available Jira field that contains the estimate you want to show.
Can I display epics?
Yes. The wallboard can display epics and provide epic-related context for the team’s current work.
You can also use epic-based swimlanes to organize related work items when that option is available for the selected configuration.
Can I display subtasks?
Yes. Enable Count also the sub-tasks and their estimate option to include subtasks on the wallboard.
This is useful when subtasks represent meaningful work that the team needs to discuss or monitor separately from their parent items.
Can I make the cards smaller?
Yes. Enable Use compact-size cards to reduce the card size.
Compact cards allow more work items to fit within the available dashboard space and are useful for large sprints, busy boards, or shared team screens.
Can I customize the card colors?
Yes. You can assign different colors according to the work-item hierarchy level.
Can I move or transition work items directly from the gadget?
The Team Wallboard is primarily a dashboard visualization of current Jira work.
Use the Jira board or individual work-item view when you need to edit, rank, assign, or transition work items. The wallboard will reflect those changes after it refreshes.
Can I use Team Wallboard for Jira Service Management work?
Yes. Use a saved filter or JQL query that returns the Jira Service Management work items you want to display.
For example, you can create a wallboard for incidents, service requests, changes, problems, or high-priority operational work. The work items will be grouped by their Jira status categories.
Can I use Team Wallboard for SAFe® or multi-team work?
Yes. A filter, JQL query, or multi-project board can consolidate current work from several teams.
Swimlanes and quick filters can then help distinguish work by team, epic, priority, or another supported criterion.
For detailed portfolio hierarchy or historical program-level reporting, combine the wallboard with other reporting gadgets.
