Team Wallboard

What is Team Wallboard?

GG-Logo---40x40px.png The Team Wallboard gadget is available either through this standalone app or as part of Great Gadgets for Jira, the complete bundle that provides a broader collection of dashboard gadgets in a single app.

Team Wallboard is a Jira dashboard app that gives Scrum, Kanban, SAFe®, ITSM, and other teams an at-a-glance view of their current work.

Display work from a Scrum or Kanban board, saved filter, or JQL query directly on a Jira dashboard. See what the team is working on, where each work item is in the workflow, who is responsible for it, its priority and estimate, and how the work is organized across epics, subtasks, or configurable swimlanes.

The app helps you answer questions such as:

  • What is the team currently working on?

  • Which work items are To Do, In Progress, or Done?

  • Who is responsible for each work item?

  • Which items have the highest priority?

  • How much estimated work is associated with each item?

  • Which work belongs to each epic?

  • What is included in the active sprint?

  • Are there unassigned items that require attention?

Key features

Current work at a glance

Display the team’s current work in a familiar board-style layout directly on a Jira dashboard.

Each card can show essential information such as:

  • Work item key

  • Summary

  • Assignee

  • Priority

  • Current estimate

This provides the context needed for stand-ups, team check-ins, planning discussions, and operational reviews.

Scrum and Kanban support

The gadget supports both Scrum and Kanban boards from team-managed and company-managed Jira spaces.

For a Scrum board, you can display the work items from the selected active sprint. For a Kanban board, the wallboard displays the current work according to the columns configured on that board.

Multiple data sources

Create a wallboard using:

  • A Jira Scrum board

  • A Jira Kanban board

  • A saved filter

  • A JQL query

A saved filter or JQL query can return work items from multiple projects or teams, allowing you to create a consolidated operational view.

Board quick filters

Apply one or more quick filters configured on the selected Jira board to focus the wallboard on a relevant subset of work.

For example, you can use quick filters to display:

  • Work assigned to a specific team

  • High-priority items

  • Bugs or incidents

  • Unassigned work

  • Work associated with a release

  • Items requiring particular attention

This allows the same board to support focused wallboards for different audiences or meetings.

Configurable swimlanes

Divide the wallboard into horizontal swimlanes to make different categories of work easier to distinguish.

Epics, standard work items, and subtasks

Display different hierarchy levels on the same wallboard, including:

  • Epics

  • Stories

  • Tasks

  • Bugs

  • Subtasks

Configurable estimation field

Choose which available Jira field provides the estimate displayed on each card.

Sprint information and timeline

For Scrum-based wallboards, display the sprint name together with its timeline.

This helps the team understand which sprint is being shown and how much time remains within the sprint period.

Compact card mode

Use compact cards to display more work items within the available dashboard space.

Custom card colors

Customize card colors according to the hierarchy level of each work item. Using different colors makes the work hierarchy easier to recognize at a glance.
